Glycine
10 productsGlycine as powder and capsules: grams per daily dose, price per gram and pure powder versus capsules.

Glycine
Glycine is the smallest amino acid. The body makes it, and it is a large part of collagen: about a third of collagen's amino acids are glycine. It is also the "glycinate" in magnesium glycinate.
As a powder it is white, dissolves easily and tastes slightly sweet, so it is often stirred into water or a drink. Labels usually give 1–3 g a day; a capsule holds far less, so powder is the cheaper way to larger amounts.
Compare the grams per daily dose and the price per 100 g.
FAQ
What does glycine taste like?
Slightly sweet: the name comes from the Greek word for sweet. The pure powder dissolves easily in water.
Powder or capsules?
Powder is cheaper per gram and suits doses of a gram or more; capsules usually hold 500–1000 mg.
Is glycine the same as magnesium glycinate?
No: magnesium glycinate is magnesium bound to glycine. It is on the magnesium shelf and in its own collection.
